Computer Systems Engineer — Everywhere

About

I enjoy working on problems where there’s a lot happening underneath the surface but the end result should feel simple. I’ve worked across React and modern frontend development, Python backends and APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, Docker, CI/CD, and desktop applications. I particularly enjoy the intersection of engineering and product design: taking something complicated, figuring out what actually matters, and turning it into software that is reliable, intuitive, and pleasant to use.

Outside of software, I’m usually doing something active or reading. I’m always somewhere in the middle of a book, often a fantasy novel or a classic that I somehow never got around to reading before. I play tennis and basketball, go hiking when I can, and am just as happy taking a long walk with no particular destination.

Experience

  1. 2022 — Present

Computer Systems Engineer · Lawrence Berkeley National Lab

My current role that has shaped who I am as a developer today. I started out creating a couple of Electron powered desktop applications, which took months of learning how to incorporate the different requirements needed to make optimization models work inside code-signed, production builds. Today, my work has expanded over several projects but has continued to center around turning complex scientific and optimization workflows into accessible, user-friendly software. This work has spanned carrying all parts of the full stack experience ...

  2. 2019-2020

    Applications Developer · IBM

My first professional role. This job taught me what office life was like, while allowing me to apply a small subset of my skills to web development and test automation using selenium.
